The Origin of Hip Hop Music

Hip hop is a genre of music that originated with the African Americans who felt oppressed by the government. They used hip hop as a way to voice their concern. The same reasons can be traced to the origins of hip hop in China. China for a long time has had a closed door policy for thirty years. In 1945, when the communist rose to power, China developed and open door policy which allowed the citizens to experience the outside world. With the development of the internet and other means of receiving information, the Chinese youth, now with more freedom of speech, started to voice their concerns using hip hop music(Chang,2007)
