Children Obesity in Virginia

Obesity remains a critical issue in the contemporary society, with international statistics indicating that it is more prevalent in developed than developing countries (Sahoo et al., 2015). By definition, obesity includes the existence of excessive body fat, resulting from the conversion of calories into fats for storage in cases where an individual fails to convert the calories into energy after consuming foods rich in calories. Consequently, the definition presents one of the most basic factors that lead to obesity among children and older individuals in the society. If the calories ingested are not exhaustively used for different activities that could require energy, then one is bound to experience cases of obesity, reflected by the individual being overweight.
