Abstract

This laboratory experiment was meant to enhance a better understanding of MATLAB’s and SIMULINK’s simulation experience in terms of modelling and the dynamism of the systems. In the experiment, a large ship towed a submarine into the sea waters. The variables that were considered in the experiment consisted of weight, tension, length, forward velocity, elongation and speed. The material used for the tow was a 300 ft cable and the maximum force that the tow cable could hold was 8,200 lb/f in a span of 2 seconds. The upper threshold of velocity was found to be 5.95ft/s. given that the damping ratio was 1, the experiment involved critical damping.
