Hobbes vs. Locke

Different political philosophers in the past have had different, and sometimes similar, opinions on the importance and creation process of a government. However, Locke and Hobbes agree that a government is an important factor for any society as it aids in guaranteeing that people within the said society receive the protection they deserve for their property. Given that they both agree to the government’s role in the protection of property, they are both for the idea that man is naturally bound to use his or her advantage to exert influence on others, and potentially reduce their access to certain factors of the environment which would otherwise be to his benefit (Hickey, 2011).
