Pre insident planing

Pre insident planing

1) You have arrived first Engine Company on scene of a reported structure fire and see water coming out the front door with a bit of smoke coming from the building. Would you shut down the water to the Fire Sprinkler system? If so why? If not when would you?

2) When arriving at an occupancy with a Fire Sprinkler system, what is one procedure that all departments proceed with? Explain what happens after that?

3) Upon arrival at a Residential house fire with a Fire Sprinkler system inside, would the FD Engineer be able to hook up to the FDC (Fire Department Connection) to support the system? What about a Commercial structure with a Fire Sprinkler system inside? Why or why not?

The modern firefighting uses fire sprinklers to ensure the effective activities with the fire actions. In the event of companies that deal with crucial materials like computer rooms, data centers and other sensitive apparatus, it is important to ensure that the process does not damage the interiors and the infrastructure of the location (Montagna, 2015). If I witnessed any water outburst in an Engine company, the first step would be to stop the water flowing as it might have a greater damage on the materials that we are trying to solve. Fire sprinklers in this case have to be filled by inert gases that facilitate the stopping of the burning fire with little or no negative impact on the materials inside the building. Water has never been the best option for putting out fires as the engines and other valuable materials might get damaged even more if they get wet (Montagna, 2015).
