Thomas Gray, Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College (1742)
According to Gray in the poem, in general, ignorance is a detestable state of the mind. According to Gray, the more knowledge an individual has, the better equipped the person is to deal with the life challenges, but again ignorance should not be equated with one’s stupidity (Gray, 2015). To many people, ignorance would be viewed as a flaw or even a hindrance, but it should be considered as simply a human nature.
