Information Technology at Hefty
Question One
Based on the case study, the Information Technology, herein on IT, is a pivotal part of the business at Hefty, but has been a sidelined business, only being involved in later stages of project implementation at the company. Notably, IT plays a role in any business, helping facilitate communication processes and maintain important information at the firm. This explains Cheryl’s assertion that the department has been instrumental at the company, particularly helping in data management efforts, which have so far kept Hefty from experiencing any data losses, compared to the case experienced by the competitors within the same industry. Consequently, the department has been effective in meeting is mandate to hefty, but faces criticism particularly on delivering in initiatives that would require its contribution.
