Applying Social Systems Theory

In module 1’s content, you learned about systems theory. In this reflection paper, you are to identify 2 social systems (e.g. family, workplace, friendship group, religious community, school, military community, etc.) which currently influence how you feel about yourself and/or how you function each day. (You will want to choose the 2 most significant systems in your life right now.)

NOTE: Make sure your reflection answers these questions on both of your chosen systems.

Describe briefly these systems (using key terms of social systems theory).
Examples to cover:
Who are the members of this system?
Is it an open or closed system?
What are the boundaries in this system?
Is there a hierarchy in the system?
What role(s) do you play in each system?
Discuss the input and output of that system and the feedback (negative and positive) that you receive from that system. Reflection
