The Odour of Chrysanthemums Reflection

The Odour of Chrysanthemums is an interesting story largely due to the events that lead to the final scenes of the story. Despite the thought that her husband may have been indulging in irresponsible drinking, Elizabeth later comes to learn that he had all along been dead in the mines, and the assertion by her father that he had heard him boasting in the pub of how much he would spend drinking may be misinformation. The thought had all along informed her attitude towards her husband, throughout the day to the extent that she even started reacting in anger towards her children. In essence, the story significantly exemplified the fragility of life and the extent to which people may often make mistakes that end up being highly definitive moments of their life.
