Despite the heinous and dispeakable crimes that my client has been associated with, it’s my duty as a nurse and as a healthcare practioner to advocate for and promote his right to receive optimum health as well as provide care in a safe manner to Mr. Manson.
My duty as the admitting nurse is to impartially provide care to any patient under my care; any bias whatsoever emanating from Mr. Mansons orders to have innocent people killed would propagate me as the nurse to offer suboptimal care. I would try my level best to not let his prior actions affect my perception of him as a patient. It’s also important to be empathetic to his poor health and that he is on the receiving end of care. Every citizen, either incarcerated or out in our community has a right to receive healthcare and my duty as a nurse would be to work in liaison with other practioners’ in keeping Mr. Mansons rights while admitted protected.
