For this discussion, please read and respond to your assigned Ethical dilemma. In your response please incorporate and reference the NASW Code of Ethics. Your response should state what you think the correct course of action should be and you must name the standards from the Code you used to make this decision (I.E. 1.07 Privacy and Confidentiality). You must explain why it is not sufficient to just list the standard. There may be more than one course of action that makes sense and there are many different standards that would apply and guide your thinking. The ETHICAL DILEMMA is attached below.

Solution= I would make a report and research where the client’s grandson could get help to stop smoking. Also, every two weeks I would check in on my client to make sure he is doing ok. If I feel or sense he is not doing ok or doing worse, I will meet with him once a week until I feel he doesn’t need to meet with me anymore. I would be following C of informed consent (1.03) because the grandson’s smoking could influence my client to smoke too. Also, I would take responsible steps to protect my client’s health and to help his grandson be healthier which goes with informed consent. I would say that I am following the d option in the competence section (1.04) because I am finding a service that can help my client’s grandson quit smoking and I giving my service to my client. Also, the client and the grandson have a relationship. I am following the clients who lack decision-making capacity (1.14) because I know that smoking is very bad for your lungs and I must get help for my client’s grandson because his habitat is affecting my client. People get addicted to nicotine when smoking and prevent people from making smart choices like quitting. The longer you smoke, the harder it is to quit, and it would be very important to get my client’s grandson to stop smoking. So that my client doesn’t start smoking. Also, I would be following the referral for services ethical responsibilities (1.16) because I am giving my client grandson a different service to go to, who can better know how to help someone quit smoking. I would be following the termination of services (1.17) because I would stop my client service when I feel that he doesn’t need me anymore and when my client feels that his goals have been met or there’s nothing left to talk about. I think that I would be following the respect guideline of the social worker’s ethical responsibilities to colleagues’ section (2.01) because I would be working with other social workers to get my client’s grandson’s help.
