Bodies Matter
Reporting on the experienced changes by women after they have delivered, Cordelia Hebblethwaite (2013) writes on the BBC Magazine that the changes experienced in their bodies are a reality that “women themselves often try to hide and the media never wants to show.” The assertion marks a direct reference to personal discomfort associated with the changes in the body, an allusion to the fact that bodies matter. Were they not as significant, there would be minimal attention to how one looks, which would be identifiable from limited effort to hide.
