Jones (2003) identifies why we run, and what we run from, and offers
strategies for slowing down.  As we enter this study of spiritual life
and leadership, it is important that we, as Christian leaders, set
good examples of what it means to live a balanced Christian life.
Even when we are unaware, those we lead are watching us and
often pattern their lives after ours.  Perhaps, the strongest
leadership we can offer comes from leading by example.

Prepare a reflection paper, 6 pages in length that includes:
a. A summary of Addicted to Hurry.  This summary should
include what you discern to be the author’s thesis statement
(why he wrote the book), and a brief summary of the
content.  This should be organized in a way that mirrors the
flow of the text without being a tedious “book report” on
every detail of the text.  (1 page)
b. Your response to the author’s premise that incessant hurry
impacts spiritual growth. (up to 1 page)
c. Your personal response to what makes you run? (1-2
pages)
d. Your reaction to Jones’ suggestions for slowing down that
includes your own thoughts about how to slow down. (1-2
pages)
