In the modern world, there are many social issues that affect people in the society. Most of these social issues have a negative impact on the health and well-being of the people and thereby need to be addressed. A social issues that I am personally interested in learning more about is gender discrimination in the United States. Gender discrimination refers to inequality that arises as a result of one’s gender (Sellers, Fryback, & Palta, 2013). Today, it is considered to be a violation of federal civil rights to deny an individual an opportunity, job, promotion or equal pay based on their gender.
