The article that I chose from the assigned is one titled Hiring Decisions: The Effect of Evaluator Gender and Gender Stereotype Characteristics on the Evaluation of Job Applicants by Lindsay Rice and Joan Barth. The article was published on the Gender Issues journal. In the article, the authors investigate the various effects of gender stereotypes among evaluators who are charged with the role of recruiting and selecting employees for a hiring organization. Such stereotypes have a huge impact on the decisions that are made by the evaluator on the applicants or candidates for a given job position. In the study that was conducted, 129 candidates were chosen of whom eighty were female. The participants were involved in a priming manipulation on gender stereotypes.
