Sport Movie Requirement

Students will view a sports-related movie and write a brief review. While viewing the movie, identify sport psychology themes that are depicted in the movie (aggression, parental involvement, goal setting, teamwork, etc.) and then write a review of the movie.

For a complete listing of the movies you may choose from please see the attached excel list.There is no need to register the movie with me. Please ensure however that you clearly state and then discuss the movie in the context you choose it for (e.g., aggression, motivation, etc)

The Karate Kid (2010)

The Karate Kid is a martial arts film that is full of drama and aggression. Notably, the movie is set in China and features Kung Fu martial arts skills as compared to the original version done in 1984 that displayed Okinawan karate from Japan. The Karate Kid was directed by Harald Zwart, a Dutch – Norwegian film director. The movie was produced by Jerry Weintraub, James Lassiter, Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith, casting Jaden Smith, Taraji Henson and Jackie Chan as the lead casts. Other casts include Wenwen Han, Zhenwei Wang, Luke Carberry, Ji Wang, Shijia Lu, Zhensu Wu, Zhiheng Wang, Yi Zhao, and Cameron Hillman. The movie was officially released in June 2010.
