Introduction

Stress, a common aspect in human life has a direct effect on people especially when they are working. As officers of the law, these persons are faced by stressful situations both from the workplace as well as from their social lives. As such, police officers are the most depressed people in the United States of America. Altogether, they are very prone to adverse platforms of life and for example, they are the most common demographics in the United States to get divorced and separated from their spouses due to the effects of stress in their places of work (Arter 2007). This paper is a research report looking at the literature behind the fact that stress has an adverse effect on the work lives of police officers in the United States of America.
