It has long been the assumption of historians that the Reformation is important for the
development of modern ideas of individual and political freedom. Based on this week’s
texts, do you think this is right? What does Luther mean by freedom? How is his concept
of Christian freedom like and/or unlike modern conceptions of freedom?
