The Research Process

Please respond to one (1) of the following:

Have you ever read something that you suspected was fake news? How can you use what you’ve learned about the research process when you evaluate information outside of this course?
In this week’s Strayer Story, Tamara Mose showed us how she used observational (field) research and intensive interviewing to gather data about a Caribbean nanny community. Which one of the five major sociological research methods (existing data, content analysis, survey, experiments, or observation (field) research) interests you the most? Explain why you’re interested in that research method and describe how you might use it to research a different topic.
2) Your response must address the discussion question and you must also comment on at least one other student’s post.

3) INSTRUCTOR INSIGHTS WEEK 2 OPTIONAL however please take a look….

Class, as you read and view the lecture material on scientific research, you will find that in the social sciences researchers do not have to go far to study human behavior especially in small groups. We study individual behaviors in larger settings such as stadiums or sports arena, however we also study “every day” observations of how people interact with their surroundings or with others in personal spaces. Take a look at this video and see if you can follow what is actually happening. You are not required to post your comments, however, I would really like to know what you think about this social experiment.
