There are very few areas today where nurses do not use some form of technology in caring for
their patients; diagnostic equipment, monitors, charting on your patient, and medication
administration records (MARS). Nursing informatics is the junction between nursing care,
technology, health information systems, and the data used in health care settings. According to
Curioso et al., (2021), “the pandemic revealed an urgent need to strengthen nursing informatics
competencies and to develop new training programs in nursing informatics, promoting research
and innovation to prepare the current and future generation of nurses”. Nursing Informatics is
an integral part of the healthcare team. They are an essential part of the team developing and
improving our technology to reach more patients and reach collaborative medical personnel
around the world.
