Disaster recovery plans are documented and systematic approaches that are used to respond to unplanned incidents that may affect an organization or community. When developing these plans, precautions must be taken as this may be critical towards reducing the effects that can be brought by different disasters (Zelkowitz, 2014). Doing this also ensures that organizations are able to recover quickly after a disaster has struck. When developing these plans, it is imperative that different standards are applied. Standards are used to ensure that the disaster recovery plans consider the various items that are covered by standards. The use of standards also ensures that the plan is in line with the various regulatory frameworks that are in place. The use of standards also ensures that the policies being developed for disaster recovery are complete and do not contain any errors.
