Write a critique of the article by Shrestha, Anderson, and Moore listed in Required Reading, answering the following questions:

  • What are the applications of observational learning?
  • What is point-of-view modeling (POVM), and how is it different from ordinary video modeling?
  • In what training situations are video prompting (VP) procedures helpful, and what is the major disadvantage of using them?
  • How does forward chaining improve upon VP techniques?

Observational learning has been frequently applied in therapeutic sessions to assist patients in overcoming their phobias. For instance, adults with claustrophobia can watch a model in a video as they approach an enclosed region. When the model comes to the enclosed region, they enter in and lock the door. The viewer learns relaxation techniques, and they can apply them anytime they get anxiety on watching the film.
