Victim impact statements are information (oral or written) from crime victims on how a given offense has affected them. This is an opportunity for the victim to take part in the criminal justice sentencing of the perpetrator. The purpose of the statements is to enable the crime victims to provide accounts to the court on the impact of the crime.
