The first essay I will ask you to write will be a simple description/exposition of something you are familiar with; it has to be one reasonably non-abstract thing (don’t try to describe ‘love’ or ‘courage’ or something like that yet) and I would like you to describe it in detail. It could be an event—a concert or the like; or it could be a place, a person, or anything except it has to be non-abstract and it has to be one thing. I expect vivid description and a healthy use of adjectives.

All religions in the world have different times of the year meant for celebrating a special moment in history that they wish to remember. Christmas is one of the most popular and recognized holiday in the world. For most people, Christmas is a time of giving and togetherness. Time to spend quality time with family and friends. To some, however, it is a time for great stress and deep pockets. Merchants have in this day and age taken the theme of Christmas and commercialized it. However, most people still remember Christmas as the day Jesus Christ was born. Christians have been celebrating Christmas since 400 AD (Openiano, 1998). The word Christ, in this case, stands for the Messiah and mass meaning a religious festival. The real meaning and reason behind Christmas is based on the stories in the Bible from Matthew and Luke first and second chapters.
