The Mexican American community was the central target of the Navy and white Americans because, first, they were the people who were wearing the zoot suits. Most of these Mexican American communities who wore these zoot suit was mostly involved in criminal activities. For instance, the sleepy lagoon murder in 1942 which made national news that time.
