Summary

I picked the movie (Little Caesar) because I read the summary of the movie and I found that it’s my movie type. The movie simply talks about gangsters in America in the 19 century. The movie took place in Chicago in 1931. One of gang member (Rico) robbed a club and then after a while, Rico had the authority of Chicago’s Northside and that after he Threatens the controller of the territory.

The themes

My essay is going to aim at three main themes which are clothing, dancing, and authority. According to the movie, I can see that there is a huge difference to the clothing for both women and men in that time and now. In addition to that, the dancing got changed since the 19 century. The last theme is the authority, to explain that more, how the bosses were treated their members

Little Caesar

Little Caesar was a movie that was produced in the year 1931 that mainly focused on the theme of crime and this is because of the nature. Different movies in the early 20th century did not have particular themes but the fact that this movie had a well set strategy and concept plot showed the viewers some aspects of Chicago, the city it was acted in, that they did not initially comprehend. Going through the film and the various internal themes present is imperative for it enables a reader and a viewer to grasp the concepts of the film and this is not only from an entertainment view but from other angles of education and society.

The background of the film is regarding a hoodlum that ascends the orders of organized crime in the town of Chicago. During the 1930s, Chicago was prominent as being the crime city of the United States and this is because of the numerous criminal families and organizations that resided in the city (Kaminsky, 1972).
