PART 1

The cultural background of Sloane has a huge influence on her learning. Sloane comes from Mexico where her both parents were brought up. Probably, they originally spoke and were used to speaking Spanish before moving to the US and learning English gradually. Sloane will find it hard to translate some words from Spanish to English (Christenson, S & Sheridan, 2001). The primary language her mother is used to speaking in Spanish, and she has difficulties in speaking English.
