Choose two of the four behavioral ethics concepts listed below and write a response to the questions that follow the concept. There are multiple questions for each behavioral ethics concept. Answer all of the questions for the two concepts you choose. In your initial discussion board post, be sure to copy and paste the behavioral ethics concept and the questions that follow, and then write your response below that.
1. Role morality:
Have you ever seen someone act unethically and justify his or her actions by saying “I’m just doing my job?” What did you say or do in response? What should you have said or done?
2. Incrementalism:
Cynthia Cooper, the whistleblower of the infamous WorldCom financial fraud, wrote: “People don’t wake up and say, ‘I think I’ll become a criminal today.’ Instead, it’s often a slippery slope and we lose our footing one step at a time.” Do you agree? Why or why not?
3. Obedience to Authority:
Which is scarier: that Joe might not have the courage to stand up to a superior requesting unethical action because Joe doesn’t want to lose this job, or that Joe might not even see the ethical issue because he is so intent upon pleasing the boss?
4. Overconfidence Bias:
What can you do to safeguard against being too confident in your own morality?
