Setting Up An Observation System
Details: Now that you have read Chapter 1 and reflecting back on our Zoom meeting. It is time for you to start to think about yourself as an Observer. It is important that you plan and think about the type of tools or methods you find useful and will use to help you be an observer of children’s growth and learning. Whether you are already working in a classroom with children or have children in your home or family, using observational skills helps us as educators and parents to better meet the needs of children.
Instructions
For this assignment, there are two parts.
First, you will reflect on the following question:
What can be learned about children from a collection of notes, records, and/or documentation?
Why is a systematic observation important?
Secondly, you reflect on brainstorming your own observation system. If you were to begin to observe children’s learning and growth next week in a classroom setting, think about how you would plan. Develop and describe your observation system.
