What is the self-directed learning issue that was identified in your oral presentation?

Hypothyroidism

Research the self-directed learning issue and provide a summary of your findings which is fully supported by appropriate, scholarly, EBM references.

Hyperthyroidism is a disorder that affects the thyroid glands which secret thyroxine and thus is classified as a disorder of the endocrine system. A patient who is suffering from hypothyroidism has a thyroid gland that is inactive or is operating below the standard expected levels. The body is not able to maintain its healthy balance because the thyroid gland is not able to make enough thyroid hormone. For a period extending more than a century replacement of thyroid hormone has served as the treatment for hypothyroidism.  Natural preparations of the thyroid contain triiodothyronine and thyroxine, these were the pharmacologic treatments that were available at first, and they dominated the market in the 20th century. The dosages for the procedure were adjusted to normalize the basal rate of metabolism and also resolve the symptoms.
