Introduction

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act provides the authority for establishing programs that improve healthcare safety, quality, and efficiency by promoting Health Information Technology (HIT) (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 2011). The objective of the HITECH is not only to integrate Health Information Technology in the health institutions, but also to achieve the goals of the US Healthcare system; improve quality, engage patients in primary care, efficiency and safety, improve the coordination of healthcare and ensure privacy and security of the healthcare information (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 2011). With this, the different criterions of meaningful use should be tied with the healthcare goals.
